Our History
With their combined industry knowledge, skills, dedication and commitment, John and Sue Ryan make the perfect transport team and this has been a major strength of John Ryan Freight Services since establishing their own business in 1992. John is responsible for the Sales and Operations while Sue oversees Administration and Marketing.
The first challenge back in 1992, while raising two small children, was to get their name out there. They purchased an IBM Electronic typewriter and a fax machine, set it up underneath their old Queenslander and started on their journey of marketing their new business venture - John Ryan Freight Services, one of the first Freight Management Companies in Australia. They purchased their first six tonne tautliner in 1998, had their third daughter in 1999 and purchased their first Prime Mover - B Double - with Mezzanine Floors in 2003.
John regularly travelled from Brisbane to Sydney to Melbourne every fortnight to knock on doors to gain valuable business and to forge long term relationships with clients and sub-contractors - most of whom are still with them today. These long term relationships formed over the years gives detriment to their hard working ethos and hands on approach to their business. John's successful sales background & determination, together with Sue's administrative and marketing prowess, quickly helped the business build its client base to what is has become - that is - one of the leading Freight Managment Companies in Australia today.
